There are lots of great florists in Singapore, offering a wide variety of fresh flowers and bouquets that can be sent to your doorstep. Whether you’re looking for a gift or a centrepiece for your table, here are some places where you can order flowers in Singapore.Urban Meadow FlowersUrban Meadow Flowers was started in 2017 by expats Simon and Marc who wanted to fill the gap in affordable European-inspired flower arrangements in Singapore. These online florists believes that flowers should be a part of everyone’s life – not just for the big occasions. Each weekday morning, they personally select fresh and seasonal flowers to create a unique design for the day. They also only buy what they need; it means there’s no wastage and they can keep their prices low.The order process is straightforward: choose from three sizes (small, medium and large) of the flower arrangement of the day. The blooms come wrapped with a message card and are placed in pretty paper bags with ribbon handles. You can also choose to add on a personalised card, photo or even a vase. Arrangements start from $38 and include free delivery. The store also offers a special package called “Month of Flowers” – four medium or large arrangements (from $258). It’s the perfect gift for occasions such as birthdays plus you’ll save up to 10%! Keep an eye out for their subscription service too which will be launching soon.urbanmeadowflowers.com.sgFerns N PetalsIf you’re looking for variety, Ferns N Petals is the place to go! If you’re in a rush or let a special occasion slip your mind, the company even offers same-day and one-hour flower delivery for orders made before 5pm and 6pm respectively. Customers have the option to pair their blooms with a little extra something by opting for one of their popular gift combos. There’s a good variety of items to choose from. These include greeting cards, cakes, chocolates, wines, teddy bears and even personalised gifts like photo frames and mugs. Get some personalised photo books made

6th April 2020 by Lindsay Yap 3 Min ReadNow that we take most of our photos using our phones or cameras, it’s hard to keep track of them all. And, we rarely take the time to go through them and enjoy them. Why not get them put into special customised photo books? SHERIN QADIR from Artitude Designs lovingly puts together memory books for all sorts of occasions, from birthdays and graduations to anniversaries and farewells. We asked her how she got started and why she loves it. When and why did you start making memory books? For over 10 years, I’d been a creative director in multinational agencies, doing advertising and graphic design. I placed my career on hold to start a family and, when my oldest graduated last year, I decided to start my memory book business.I had an enormous number of photos of my kids collecting on my computer and I wasn’t enjoying these memories in the way I wanted to. So, the first memory book came to life when I created a book for my youngest daughter’s Grade 3 class in 2011.Since then, I’ve created many photo books for friends and family and was pleasantly surprised at the amazing response I received! Now that I decided to seriously reboot my career, it seemed only natural to create memory books. What do you enjoy about it?It’s exciting to sit at a blank screen with someone’s treasured collection of photos and to be given the opportunity to tell their story using my artistic skills and creative touch. As this is such a passion for me, it’s thrilling to put these memories into a beautiful and long-lasting keepsake. Seeing the finished memory book come together, beautifully laid out and displaying the story of someone’s moments in time, is extremely satisfying. I especially enjoy creating unique embellishments on the pages to highlight the story behind the photos and including personal messages to create a keepsake that will be cherished. It’s rewarding when a client tells me that I’ve helped to make the process seamless. Most get overwhelmed with the task of gathering and putting together photos from various devices. My clients just need to send me the photos they want to include and leave the rest to me.What sort of photo books do you make?Unlike generic photo books with standard templates that can be found elsewhere, my memory books are personalised and designed to bring out the happy moments behind the photos. Each hardcopy book comes with a digital flip-style version that can be shared online. I also offer vouchers for memory books, which can be redeemed within six months. What are your most popular ones?I’m finding that the most popular ones are the “School Years”, “Graduation” and “Baby’s First Year” memory books. I also recently did a special book for a client who wanted to leave a memory book of her childhood years from 1947 onwards for her children and grandchildren. It was filled with old treasured photos and memoirs.Find out more at thememorybooks.com.This article appeared in the May 2020 edition of Expat Living. Christmas present shopping online!

Who’s excited for Christmas?I am! It’s nearly Christmas and I am so ‘over’ trying to navigate busy Singapore shopping malls after work every year. So, I’ve decided to go online for present shopping instead. I’m even more excited now because I’ve been trawling Amazon.sg and it has some great deals on its Christmas store for gift shopping this holiday season – and there’ll be even more on Black Friday!Being slow to take up online shopping, I hadn’t realised just how much you can find on Amazon. There seem to be millions of products, from beauty items to toys, electronics, and home and kitchen goodies. And the prices are really good. Also, for this holiday season you can enjoy two to three days of free local delivery with no minimum spend on eligible orders for a limited time period – ultra convenient. The other thing that caught my eye is the fact that I can opt to have presents gift-wrapped. With my wrapping skills, this sounds very appealing. So, my first task was to find something for my two-year-old grandniece and my ten-year old-grandnephew (that makes me sound very old!). I also had to shop for my two daughters who are in their early 20s, and my mum who is 90. It’s a pretty varied and challenging range! Here are a few Christmas presents that have caught my eye…I bought some EarPods for Michaela for her birthday but they don’t stay in very well! She’s getting roller blades so I thought these Bose Frames Audio Sunglasses would be perfect for when she’s out and about on them – and she won’t get distracted by trying to keep the EarPods in. For my mum, I like these ToBeCalm candles. I love their scents, and as a present they’re small enough that mum can easily take one with her back to the UK. The one I chose is called Singapore Journey, so it will be something that reminds her of us when she goes back, too. Also for my mum, as she doesn’t like to spend money on mani-pedis, I like the look of the Vintage & Co Nail Care Set. Both of my daughters are vegetarian, but as Georgia’s living on her own, she’s really getting into cooking and has been asking for this Bish Bash Bosh! cookbook for a while. Very happy to see it here! I bet she’d love to get her hands on this Ice Blue KitchenAid too, but maybe that’s for next year! Because Michaela travels a bit, I thought this Baylis & Harding Cocktail Hour set would be perfect.  It comes in a cool bag, and includes body wash, shower creme, and hand and body lotion. The peach Bellini and raspberry rose fragrances sound lovely and feminine. I like the fact that this Frozen sticker book is reusable, otherwise it’s a bit of a waste. At two years of age, my grandniece is very into the whole ‘girlie’ princess thing already, and she loves the movie, so I think this will go down well. For my ten-year-old grandnephew, these X-mini Nova earplugs will do nicely as they fit both Apple and Android. He loves a flight simulator programme and also creates his own videos, both of which can be pretty noisy to everyone else around him. This Bubble Bath with Nutcracker theme is from Michel Design Works, and is something I thought could do for both of the little ones to share! And just so I can see how active I’m being, this Fitbit Smartwatch with Voice Assistant Alexa can be my Christmas present to myself! Special holiday offersThis holiday season, all customers of Amazon.sg can enjoy two to three days of free local delivery with no minimum spend on eligible orders for a limited time period. You just need to sign up as a Prime Member and you can get free one-day delivery on certain items.
